For many in our community this past year has been one of great uncertainty. Worries about today have often outweighed thoughts of tomorrow as people have lost jobs, homes, and hope. Fortunately, we live in a community that cares about others. That care is demonstrated each day through the efforts of thousands of volunteers who work with their hands and hearts to improve the quality of life for everyone in the community. Please help the Volunteer Center continue our work in providing information on hundreds of volunteer opportunities while supporting the missions of nonprofit organizations throughout our community.
Support a Specific Program of the Volunteer Center
VolunTEENS
Each year hundreds of Kalamazoo County students actively participate in volunteer programs that benefit both charitable causes and the volunteers. VolunTEENS have the chance to explore future career opportunities, learn new skills by working in different places, make new friends, learn what the nonprofit organizations in our community do - and why they exist. By supporting this program, you will be helping to cover the cost of our recognition program. As funding becomes tighter, this key component of the program is one of the first to suffer.
Volunteer Guidebook
This publication lists over 400 ongoing and special event volunteer opportunities at more than 100 nonprofit organizations throughout Kalamazoo County. It is updated annually with a special teen section for our VolunTEEN program. This important resource is utilized by many and by donating to support this publication you are ensuring that this resource continues to be available.
The Volunteer Center believes that successful nonprofit organizations are empowered by people with the vision to lead, the energy to build, and the determination to succeed. Volunteers hold that key.
